Yesterdays finds in the Rain

Yesterday despite the rain Kristen came home with some great finds. My favourite was this Bench seat. Its original white paint is perfectly aged and worn, revealing just a hint of the lovely warm pine beneath. With a quick wipe over it went off to The Garden Centre. That's the way I love to get things....minimal work haha. So often the things we get require many hours of cleaning and organising and giving them some love after they have been neglected and overlooked for many years under houses and so on.

Here she is under my house.

He also got these wonderful rolling pins. The small one is for wedding cake trims or patterns. Their patina is just so wonderful...I just want to stroke them. They belonged to a family that had been bakers in Maryborough ( old town in Queensland) since the turn of the century. I have a few oldboathouse plans for the faux ships wheel underneath. I am thinking maybe some kind of sign...still thinking how to do it.

More chairs.....they seem to breed under my house. Can you see the great large set of desk returns, behind, on the old cane day bed?
Can you guess what I am ?

Yes I am a wonderful cane sewing table. It has sweet little glass handles, which need a bit of a clean as the person who last painted it didn't remove them before painting. It also has a lovely decoration to the front.
I also wanted to show you this lovely twirly metal outdoor set, table and four chairs. It could be used inside too. I love the rusty colour but it could be repainted a fresh white or a fun colour. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend....still raining here in Brisbane and a bit chilly.

  8. Wow Katherine, some great finds. I'm a fan of old tools, so love the bakers rolling pins etc. This comes from my grandfather being a master cabinetmaker in Sydney and Nambour. I think my brother still has some of his old tools...I hope he does anyway...Terese

  16. That white bench is great, what a lovely find! I actually found a few items yesterday in the rain, an old timber and cast iron bench. Will need to give it some TLC. At the moment it is looking a bit wet sat outside the front of my house. Have fun, Lisa

  19. Hi excellent website! Does running a blog such as this take a
large amount of work? I have virtually no
knowledge of coding however I was hoping to start my own blog in
the near future. Anyhow, if you have any ideas or
tips for new blog owners please share. I understand this is off topic however I simply needed to ask.
    Many thanks!

  21. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation
but I find this matter to be really something that I think I would never understand.
It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post,
I will try to get the hang of it!
