Birds and beds

The most beautiful things I photographed today were not the bits of old furniture for my ebay auctions I will be listing tonight, but the chatterbox rosellas that were making a racket outside my front door this morning.

More Stool Love

Well you all know how I love old stools of any age and shape. This cute pair came in yesterday and I sat them next to my old wooden table that I use downstairs as a sorting space when new bric a brac comes in. I thought they looked so charming with the table and would be fun seating adding a less formal touch to indoors or out. Or I can see them as cute little bedside or end tables. Their rustic look gets me thinking beach or country style .... don't you think..... I had to move them under the house fast because I could feel an attachment coming on ... lol
P.S. Happy Australia Day, hope you all enjoy the day!

Some items from a Northside estate

Just back from an old home at Everton Park. There was not a whole lot there for the size of the house, I think another collector may have been there before us. In anycase we are happy always to get anything old and lovely. The picture directly above has a round mallet type tool in it. The person doing the closing up of the house said that it was for hat making. I would be interested if anyone can comfirm that or come up with a different use. I have not seen its like before.

Back to the Beach...

Wasn't quite ready to head back to work. Couldn't get the feeling of sand under foot and the sound of the ocean out of my head. So my best friend and her family of four children plus extra if you add on the eldest's boyfriend and my brood plus Nan headed to Bribie Island for a few days. My family have been staying at the same house for 17 years and Richelle's family have been joining us for about the last 4 years and I think it adds to the fun to return to a place that is full of such happy memories. Right on the surf beach at Woorim it is one of those old beachy places built in the 70's , adults upstairs and kids downstairs in one big room. Kristen stayed home and held down the work end. Secretly I think he enjoys the peace, haha.

Old folding clothes airer

I love these old fold up clothes airers.
When people buy them today I don't think it is for drying out the washing anymore.
I have had girlfriends who have displayed pretty vintage linen on and I guess you could use them for displaying anything made from cloth on them.
This old airer is one of around twenty auctions I will be listing on ebay tonight.

Off to the Garden centre...

All these items are off to the Cottage Garden Nursery, 999 Stanley St East, East Brisbane. I gave the planters a refurb in classic black and white, you might recognise them from a previous post. My favourite is the patio setting, which has a glass top and glass shelf in the centre. I think it would be fun indoors or out.

Happy New Year ~ All Hands on Deck!

Well we are back on deck at theoldboathouse but we have had a lovely break, if only too short. (Where does the time go?) We headed over to Straddie after Christmas, kids and dog in tow, and although the weather was a bit dull it was great to have a change of scenery. The photo straight above shows the view from the deck of the house where we stayed which was right on Moreton Bay and if you were lucky and looked out at the right time, you could see dolphins playing only a few feet from where you stood. From tonight we will be listing again on ebay, starting with a few furniture items and then in the coming week we will be listing a few smaller items. We are looking forward to hunting down some great vintage treasures in 2010 and catching up with all our fellow vintage lovers and customers.
