Glass and China from Today's Estate.

Today Kristen came home from an estate where the items varied in era . Above and below is some wonderful Art Glass pieces which date from the 1960's.

This stunning glass would date from an earlier time, probably made by Fenton and remind me of lollies and smacked hands from Grandma telling children to keep away.

Charming floral china. Kristen asked me when I thought the silver topped floral pieces dated from. I thought around the 1920's when do you think?

Watch me change from here...
To here.
Kristen had looked up in my English china guide and the company went out of business in 1887. So I was just a bit off...ha The colours are really vivid considering their age.
Pretty little Tunstall vase. To contact please email boathome@bigpond.net.au

Around theoldboathouse today ~ Feeling ORANGE

My Halloween Jack O Lantern Pumpkin that I carved the other night has got me seeing ORANGE around my house today............... My latest find (or rather found by Kristen and claimed by me) to add to my German floor vase collection. I have a smaller vase in this and was super excited to get this Big Fat one. I just want to sit and cradle it in my arms....Love, love, LOVE.
My happy tea cosy....look at that work that some clever person did and before you ask no sadly it wasn't me ,I'm not clever at those crafty, sewing things.
This is my dog head vase...meant to be a bear but I call it dog head, made by son number 2 and flowers made by Lotte. I am always sadest at estates we go to when we come across items made with love by children...they have no value but at the same time have the hugest value really. I also have the same problem with trophy's....actually there is a long list of things....don't get me started I will have you all crying.

Cushions made by Nan from vintage fabric
French glass flowers
Me in one of my casual "round the house" get ups.

Oh and this is my lantern at night....aargh. If you haven't carved a pumpkin I recommend it as it is lots of fun.
The jack -o'lantern chuckled
Then winked his funny eye,
"I would rather be a pumpkin-face
Than be inside a pie!"
Hope you are all having a good start to the week.

A Tail of Three Art Deco Float Bowls

People often ask us to keep an eye out for different items for them and a commonly asked question is "When do you think you will have.....(what ever the item may be)?" We always say you never can tell as sometimes you can go a little while without getting a certain item and then you will no doubt get a whole run of them. Plus lets face it we can't just order it in from the stockists....wouldn't that be easy? ha. This week we got three different float bowls from three different estates. Although we regularly get float bowls, the funny thing with these three girls was...
the first a fairly common green glass variety had only its centre frog and no centrepiece.

The second was a harder to find stunning blue bowl....

which has a lovely shape to its base,
and stunning lady centrepiece.....but,
a whopping big chunk out of her base. BUGGER! You can't see this when she is standing in her frog but it is very annoying.
The last which again is a beautiful blue is complete with frog and centrepiece....Yey!

BUT it is the most common centrepiece, A BIG fish.....So three different estates, three similar items and three different stories to tell. I wonder what it will be next week?

Some new Goodies ~ Yesterday at the Garden Centre

Large proportions, French Provencial style chair and side table.

Do you spy those two stools?

I so wanted to keep these little fellows. I brought them inside and carried them around my house...but alas no room. I could have replaced one I have in my kitchen, that I have magazines on, for the little painted chap but, you will think me crazier than you aleady do, it felt mean. The stool I would be replacing it for is very cute and has given me lots of love for many years so why should he be repaced with this "new" flashier arrival. Their finish is so soft and smooth...ahh. And look at the delicate flowers on the front one...original folk art. The one at the back has lovely legs.

There is a sea of beautiful Lavenders of many kinds.

Milk bottles in their carry stand....make fun vases. Jasmine....the perfume was intoxicating.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. The weather is absolutely perfect here in Brissie....
