From Kitsch to KITSCH ~ Finding Love for Bad Taste

It used to seem to me that when we used the word Kitsch we were using it in a derogative way to describe something, gaudy, tasteless, tacky and in the levels of what was considered to be of artistic and monetary value it was way down the bottom. Now I think it has become more of a term of endearment, still describing the tacky, but seeing it as having a cultural and even aesthetic value in itself...what do you think? While you think, check out some of what I see as the levels of kitsch in this group of  items we purchased recently.

Glassware from the 60's and 70's ~ Elegant, classy kitsch

Japanese ceramics from the same era ~ Walt Disney inspired cutie pie Kitsch
Novelty Salt and Peppers ~ Classic Kitsch
Faux Gold Lustre fish Ashtrays and Faux Gold Sheep money box ~ super Kitsch
Gold Elephant pulling an ornate Drink set with Royal theme...now that's UBER KITSCH!!
So ugly you just have to love him I say.
Nodder Japanese Patent T.T. Nodder Fish ~ Collectable Kitsch. Once upon a time on ebay these were very sort after.
Some say Kitsch is ugly, poor taste, mass produced and worthless. What do you think ? I think it is fun, over the top and always makes me laugh so isn't that something worth valuing ? Hope you have a lovely Sunday.

  6. You're right. Kitsch is now endearing and not a 'bad' word. The world needs all the hapiness it can get; and your 70's glassware and their beautiful colours are working their magic on me.

  7. I like some kitschy bits and not others lol. My mum had a lot of that 70s glasswear. I wonder whatever happened to it all? I absolutely love the bluebirds. That gold lustre sheep looks like the old BP Golden fleece sheep. If it is you may have found a real treasure!

More than half with the uninsured are under the age of Thirty five. They do not experience they are wanting health insurance because they are young and also healthy. Its incom

  20. I know of the fact that these days, more and more people are attracted to digital cameras and the industry
of picture taking. However, to be a photographer, it's important to first expend so much period deciding the exact model of camera to buy plus moving store to store just so you might buy the heapest camera of the trademark you have decided to select. But it does not end there. You also have to contemplate whether you should purchase a digital video camera extended warranty. Thanks alot : ) for the good ideas I gained from your blog.

form part of any group insurance, you will well really benefit from seeking aid from a health agent.
Self-employed or people with medical conditions commonly seek the help of a health insurance specialist.
    Thanks for your article.

  27. Thanks for the a new challenge you have uncovered in your blog post.
One thing I'd prefer to discuss is that FSBO human relationships are built as time passes. By introducing yourself to owners the first few days their FSBO will be announced, before the masses get started calling on Monday, you nerate a good interconnection. By sending them equipment, educational products, free records, and forms, you become the ally. By using a personal interest in them plus their circumstance, you make a solid connection that, most of the time, pays off as soon as the owners opt with a broker they know in addition to trust - preferably you.
