Orginal Ashgrovian Queenslander ESTATE HOUSE IN CAMP HILL

When you pull up outside an old estate home you can get very excited when you see that it looks all very original and untouched. Sadly while the house was very original (I have some pictures below of its interior) All the furniture mostly dated from the 1940's to 1960's. Nearly all of which we left.

I have pictured the few bits of furniture below we bought from the house and while it is nice, I was walking up the stairs dreaming of lots of unpainted leadlight silky oak pieces when we first arrived.
Luckily we did buy some nice retro bric brac that, when I unpack it all, I will post some pictures of in the next day or two.

If the lady who had owned the house had lived she would be 98 today. She was lucky to stay in her home till the very end, passing away just last week. She did all her own cooking and kept a very pretty and well maintained garden. The new owners will no doubt make extensive changes, raising it and so on. That is the way things go.

You can email me at boathome@bigpond.net.au if any item you see on theoldboathouse blog is of interest.

  5. The house is amazing Katherine... A shame though the contents weren't of the same era. Kind of like walking into a house like this and finding that the bathroom and kitchen etc. have been renovated in the 70's etc. Pxxx
