Remembering a childhood....Livin in the 70's

Did you have a 70's childhood? I did, and these bits and bobs sure did bring back a few memories.
These would have been my dream skates. So cool!
 Replacement dragster seat
Remember these gals, made in Japan.
That funny old fellow, Humphrey B Bear
Classic, wooden cricket bat and stumps
I can remember how sharp the metal tips on these sort of stumps were...particularly when my brothers were using them as swords or chasing me around the back yard with them.
The classic hard cardboard back pack

"Allows children to have hands free when using public transport, thus reducing the risk of accidents"
Fantastic cowboy outfit, appears never to have been worn.
Love all the details, such as fringing and gun holster, below.

Interesting for me that the outfit was made in Bulimba which is the suburb next to where I live, here in Hawthorne.

  1. That brings back some memories...my favourite thing was rollerskating, I would do it everyday. I remember teaching the kid up the street to rollerskate with a pillow belted around his bum..hahaha. Humpfrey was a favourite too, I watched him everyday day, had the doll (Still do)and even sent him a letter...good times.

  2. I still have my white boot skates with blue wheels....and they fit...my mum got them so big I had to wear a pair of ballet Jiffies in them to make them fit..........I guess she never wanted to buy me two pairs! And I tried them the other day, with my holding on the hills hoist clothes line, I was petrified!!!!! My children thought it was hilairious, my husband saw and accident waiting to happen and rescued me...

  4. Oh wow, you had me at the roller skates. I was born in 1975 so these are more memories of what my older brothers & sister had in their lives, i got them as handmedowns, of course, when they were totally uncool. Will these be at your WAC store, my husband is prepared to take me there (this is a huge committment of his love). Let me know, i'm free. Love Posie

  5. Yes, I was a child of the 70's and I loved my roller skates to death. I just about lived in them for a few years. Those were the good old days :)

  6. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I never mastered roller skates but later learned to ride a skateboard. I had one of those Japanese dolls. That cowboy outfit is just too cute! We spent hours playing cowboys and indians as kids and F-Troop was one of our favourite TV shows. Not very politically correct today but shows how different the era was.

  11. I had friends that lived next door to the factory in Godwin St where the outfits were made. Bought back memories although my childhood was mostly the 60's being born in 1956. thanks for the memories.

  13. Oh baby! I had the skates, the school bag and the HB bear! My brother had one of those cowboy outfits and used to dress up like one of the Village people! Oh what happy days.... completely oblivious to how dorky we were! X
