WARNING ~ Road Kill or Vintage Fashion ?

Of all the many and varied items we get it is vintage furs that people, including myself,  always have on one side the most horror about and on the other the most fun. You may remember another chap I blogged about here.
I just couldn't help but think "Road Kill" with these guys though, particularly the one at the front.
With his little arms and legs still attached he reminds me of a cartoon character that has been steam rolled over.
Look at that little face.
The other guy is another story. I am still trying to figure out exactly what creature he is or rather was. He seems a mixture of goat/sheep/dog ??? I am not sure either if his brown tips are original or dyed.

They have both made their way over to The Woolloongabba Antique Centre. When I took them over every person that passed them by stopped to laugh or try them on with their friends and do a bit of a fashion show. One mother spent ages explaining to her wide eyed children how they had once been... "little animals...see there little legs and look there is his little ears...and ladies would wear them like this." She draped it around her shoulders. I am not sure if the children were traumatised or intrigued by her explanation and modelling but their eyes were as big as saucers and they stood transfixed, on the spot.
Hope you have all had a lovely weekend. Sorry I have been a bit slack on visiting everyone, my youngest trouble maker is not well, still deciding if a hospital visit is on the cards, fingers crossed for me and her that it's not.

What did life have in store for you young man ?

This is Leonard Robert Carius, son of Eva. I know this only because it is written on the back of the framing. It is such a charming image of a little man pushing his little man sized barrow.
His smile, eyes and stance hold in them all the innocence and promise of childhood. I wonder what Leonard's life held for him ?
The frame is lovely wide Silky Oak. It is available at The Woolloongabba Antique Centre.

Some people in this house say a full table is a happy table....... But I say except

if you have to clean it all. HA!

Do you see what I see in the photo above ? Something will be staying with me. ( I will show you a close up soon along with some of his new friends that have found a home with me recently. )

                                                       Lots of pretty trios

More lovely trios
Carlton ware plate, they always remind me of Charlotte's Web

1980's hand held game

Another lovely trio this one is Carlton ware like the plate above.

Love the colour of this little ginger jar.

Lots of silverware. I am yet to peek into the one's stacked underneath.
Hope you are all having a good start to the week.

Before and after tables off to the WAC

We gave these two tables above a shabby white finish this week after we got back from the coast.
and here they are side by side at the WAC ready for the weekend.

We also took this old kitchen table over to the WAC yesterday. Luckly all it needed was a quick sand and estapol.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. We hope to be back Monday night or Tuesday morning with some pictures of my, once again covered with collectables, dining room table.
