WAC update and Instagram addiction

A quick update of what is new at the WAC and an apology and explanation as to why I have been so slack with blogging.

Firstly the WAC.  There were lots of new goodies on offer at the WAC this week. Including three groovy mid century chairs, 2 of which have already sold.

Large slim line Silky Oak desk.
Retro dresser.
Heaps of fab green glass and green items like this turtle cookie jar.

Groovy spotted retro glasses.

Lovely cream Bakelite clock, still working well.

Mary
Set of six delicate green retro glasses.
BUT why the slack blogging. Well I am addicted to INSTAGRAM.
For those of you not in the Know, and that was me a week ago..... Instagram is an app you can download onto your phone and it allows you to share photos and images quickly with other people also on Instagram. It is much more immediate than the blog but of course is limited as to how much information  you can include. So if your not on it I recommend you do, its lots of fun. You can find me at Katherinetheoldboathouse . Oh and it will give you a chance to see items quickly as they come in and even get in quick and snap them up like a certain instagrammer and blogger did with this lonely casala chair above.

The Apprentice

Frankie recently started his electrical apprenticeship. I am very excited with the prospect of having an electrician in the family. Although I do try to block out the fact that he is mucking around with electricity all day. Even though he is grown, it still seems instinctual as a mother to worry about such things.

Here's Frankie in his tradie gear in front of "blacky", his car, which was once my car. He starts very early and I get up with him, before he heads off in the dark, to help prepare his lunch and have a coffee together. I was thinking recently how my life has gone full circle with Frankie. I used to get up with him before dark when he was a little fellow, although back then it was just me that found the early start hard. Don't tell him but I actually really enjoy it. I feel very aware that it won't be long before these times too will be a memory. Don't you wish sometimes that you could do parts of your life all over again so you could have a chance to enjoy them once more ?

Coming Good on Broken Promises ~ unpacking the treasures

So I said I would show you photos as I unpacked...sorry about that but with school holidays I just don't know where the days go. But as they say, better late then never.... so get set for a lot of photos. I have already cleaned a fair amount but I am yet to get to the bags of stuff and I notice there is still two boxes and a line of china on the floor.
The dining room and kitchen floor were a sea of paper

People often say to me "Thank goodness for dishwashers." I wonder why because with vintage gear dishwashers are evil and strip china of their patterns and turn old metals a funny white...so it is all hand cleaned the old fashioned way.
Cleaning central
Bad luck if anyone wants to use the microwave or make a coffee.
I unpacked lots of lovely Beswick,  Carltonware and Royal Winton

Everything you have seen so far has gone to the Garden Centre, while the bulk of what is coming next has gone to the WAC.

Fabulous complete drinks set with no damage....a rarity these days.

Check out the snakes made from old  bottles.

Loved these vases and the ones below

These fine early Japanese tea cups and sugar bowl have gone to the Garden Centre.

Oh and the kangaroo heads went to the WAC and caused quite a stir. Here they are on display near the front door. They sold on the weekend and so have gone on to a new home. I hope they are loved.
