Will you forgive me for having a Favourite ?

As it is with our children, when it comes to admitting to having favourite customers it just is not on, is it? Well I'm sorry I hope you will forgive me but today I am admitting to having a bit of a favourite...customer that is.
Here she is, Mrs Bennett. I first met Mrs Bennett about 14 years ago when I had my shop, Frog's Hollow Antiques and Curios, on Hawthorne Road...I loved my shop, and sometimes I do miss it....but I digress. Mrs Bennett, a great purposeful walker, used to often call in for a chat and a browse when she was returning from her days errands. Those of you who know me know...I am good at chatting and I loved sharing in the stories Mrs Bennett has to share of her family and life. She often purchased gifts for loved family members. But one day she purchased something for herself. It is the lovely dressing table, she is pictured with above, and further down.

At the time of purchasing the dressing table Mrs Bennett was in her late 70's and her family wondered why at this stage of her life she needed it. But she loved it and said she had always wanted one and she didn't care that she may not get to enjoy it as long as she would like. She would love it every day and she knew it would bring her joy. Well if you do the math you can see Mrs Bennett has had many years of enjoyment of her dressing table.

I called in on her the other day when I spied her in her garden. She grows beautiful roses and has a lovely green house. She does all the up keep herself. She is just such a lovely person, I can't begin to tell you.

Her husband's photo is on the left, you can just make it out. He passed away 43 years ago...
People always ask how I can part with the treasures we find. Well I love that I get to meet and be a part of the lives of people like Mrs Bennett and I like that so many customers buy things from me again and again. One lovely ebayer said to me the other day, except for the beds and white goods just about every bit of furniture in her house has come through us. Too funny but also very special.

What's on the Dining Table today....

Hi Everyone, If you have been wondering where I am lately, I have not disapeared I have been over on Instagram..you can find me at Katherinetheoldboathouse . On instagram I try and take photos of our latest finds and other things that take my fancy too.
But today I thought I would give you, my lovely blogging friends,  a first sticky beak before I instagram , at some of the recent treasures that are waiting on the dining table to be cleaned and sorted.

Wonderful Art Deco Canisters in a lovely sage pale green....If I had a bigger kitchen they may never leave but surfaces are a tad full in my place...Grrrr

I love the shape of the lids...

More pretty greens...set of six delicate glasses.

Cameras

Pair of planters. Good condition for anodised ones and great to get a pair.

Travel bag from the Sitmar Line....LOVE

Hat Box

Bowling balls in a cute little case, don't you love the lining?
I also have some furniture to show you....but the truth is I am too slack to walk downstairs and photograph...it is so windy today. I'll try and pop back in tomorrow and share some more photos. Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

Just in at The Cottage Garden Nursery ~ Preparation Tables, Stools and Sideboard

Today we took over this large Oak Sideboard to the Nursery.
It has a large mirrored back and it is a wonderful colour.
I love the little shelf in the middle.

The Art Nouveau handles.

As well as the corner shelves.

I am also loving the colour of this deck chair.

Large vintage Adirondack chair.

Fabulous Stools. French Country on the left and old school science lab on the right.

Preparation table or potting table...even a deck bar...with old benches like the one above it is really up to the imagination to decide how to use it, they are so versatile.

Love the gentle worn finish with just a hint of the timber peeking through.
This one is long and narrow, perfect for a hallway or entrance.
Handy shelf underneath.
Soft, waxed pine top.

Folding side table.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for all your lovely comments on our post on the Great South East Show.
