Those of you who come regularly to theoldboathouse or follow our ebay auctions will know that when we say "we love anything old and interesting" we are not kidding....with this comes lots of fun, lots of hard work and lots and lots and lots of good "stuff" that needs to find a new life and new home. It also means Kristen cannot go anywhere without coming home with something. Last night he was sent off with son Number 2, Chauncy, to attend a Japanese information night about Chauncy's much anticipated trip to Japan. He came home with these......

This morning he said he would just go back to the old house and have a look around...it seemed pretty empty in the dark, but the older couple who were moving said he was most welcome (music to Kristen's ears...he doesn't have to be asked twice) and you never know...I was thinking please don't come home with anything else....my house, yard, will burst....But ohhh.... lovely I was so happy he did. He came home with this.....

Just the kind of thing that makes my heart sing. An old metal and glass doctors cabinet on castors with all its glass shelves and perfect old paint that is all worn with rust etc etc.....YUM. Now alot of people will say "Katherine you get so many beautiful pieces of old furniture why would you like that???" I cannot really explain it is LOVE.....unrational, unconditional and all about LUST and why I can never do any other job.

Not sure what I will do with her yet or even if she will be mine or some other wonderful, crazy persons that loves industrial chic. I apologise the pics aren't that good under my house. I wanted to get it in before I smashed some of the glass.

I can see it in a kitchen or bathroom or it would make an amazing display cabinet for a collection. To contact please email boathome@bigpond.net.au

Items from yesterday's estate ~ Now on Ebay

Set of Six silky oak chairs which includes two carver chairs.

Solid Sliky oak wardrobe, nice narrow proportions. I think it would be a great coat cupboard for an entrance as it has very handsome details.

Matching opposing pair of solid pine cabinets that started out life as cabinets acting as room dividers between the lounge room and dining room.

Country Kitchen Table ~ Both this table and the large silky oak table below have had 1960's revamps which means the addition of laminate tops to "modernize" them. They will be fantastic with a 2010 revamp to either restore them to their former glory or give them a fresh French Country look.
