Yesterday I visited my very favourite BFF Richelle. She lives North of Brisbane and has the most beautiful garden on acerage which includes an orchard. How Lucky! I felt like I was out of a Thomas Hardy novel as we gathered so many beautiful oranges, lemons and mandarines.

As my husband will confirm this is my absolute favourite thing to do and today I am off with my sister Kylie and my Mum to do some serious gallivanting!! We will be ladies lunching at the Cottage Nursery and then onwards to Woollongabba to be inspired there. It is a beautiful sunny day and you can feel summer just around the corner... Hope you find time to do some gallivanting too!

Well look at this handsome lad! It was formal excitement at our house recently. Frankie and his partner Gemma made a lovely couple, if I do say so myself, but it makes you think where do the years go...

Some old white shabby items from a Redland bay estate.
I love the ladder planter. It is amazing that it is in such good order, considering any plant that grew on it would have needed watering which would have damaged the timber over the years.
I bought a few interesting bits of Bric brac from the house as well that I will try to post about during the week ahead depending on what else I get.

Another pic from my new space at the Cottage Garden Nursery in East Brisbane, just before the Lord Stanley Hotel, 999 Stanley Street, East Brisbane, heading towards the Gabba.
Todays friday favourite has to be my new space at The Cottage Garden Nursery in East Brisbane. I have been going there since it opened as a customer of both the nursery and the fantastic coffee shop, so I am sooo excited to now be selling from there too. It is just before the Lord Stanley Hotel, 999 Stanley Street, East Brisbane, heading towards the Gabba. If you want to see what the space looked like 36 hours ago, scroll down a couple of posts below. It is such an inspirational place for your home and garden and the staff there really know their plants. I will have to resist spending my profits on coffee and flowers, ha ha, I am right next to another Catherine the florist a Katherine like me but with a C.
I found this old linen press come storage cupboard a few weeks ago and put it up on ebay as it stood but no one wanted it. Then a spot at a local garden centre became available and I thought.... possible shelves for bric a brac. So I knocked out two shelves that were not original added some old bun feet to give it a bit of height and painted the outside white and shellaced the inside. I think the result has worked out well. Though maybe I should have painted the feet I added white too, though I do love the old shabby original paint finish they have. What do you think ?

Over the years I have had a few different silky oak bookcases. While different from this one they have all been different in their design and features than standard Australian Bookcases one finds in Cedar and Pine. Probably this is because they date from after 1900 rather than before but also I like to think it has something to do with the adventerous spirit of early Queensland Cabinet makers.
After all its great to be a Queenslander.
