We're Home and just in time for Chauncy's BIG night ! !

Actually we arrived home Friday. Lotte surprised her surgical team and the wonderful nursing staff at the Mater Children's hospital and had only a 5 day stay, not the..up to two weeks, predicted before hand. What a star! Thank - you for all your kind comments and thoughts.

While we were away a new member of the family arrived. Isn't he cute! I have already wasted so much time watching him dart about in his 5 ft tank...thank goodness that fits in Chauncy's room. He is only about 15cm long at the moment but he will grow much bigger and he should live for up to 30 years.

And in other super exciting news Lotte and I were home in time to share in Chauncy's year 12  formal. I was secretly stressing about this all week, as every Mum wants to be a part of the excitement of the big night.

Chauncy and his girlfriend, Jadey  made a beautiful couple don't you think ?
And look, he's actually smiling....a blog first!

This weeks auctions and Lotte update

Lotte has left intensive care and moved to general ward this morning. So except for some pain and a tube in Lotte's nose that she finds really annoying, all is going really well. Katherine wanted me to thank everyone for all the kind thoughts. Lotte had looked very worried when they took her away to theatre, but not as worried as her mum got as the operation went past the four hour mark after being told, it turns out incorrectly, that it would all be over in only one and a half hours.

Handing over an empty table and the blog......for a while

Lotte and I are off for a while to hospital for an operation. But we have been busy making sure the boys in house, well one boy in particular, can not complain.
The table has been cleared of bric a brac. Even my finds from yesterdays garage sales have been cleaned priced and taken over to the WAC and the Garden Centre.
In fact, Lotte and I have been very good girls and we have cleared a full table twice in the last week or so of goodies. The first time ready for a full table of guests for Easter Lunch.

So please be gentle with Kristen and his blog postings. I know he will be looking constantly to see if he gets any comments. Fingers crossed Lotte and I will be back in a week or so.

New to the WAC this week....

Lots of new goodies this week at the WAC.

Large vintage crucifix
Lovely glassware
typewriters

This one dates from the Second World War and was used in the repatriation office.
Lots of new old soft drink bottles.
Cheeky Mexican

Plane cigarette lighter
Groovy speed skates
Old boxes and crates
Enamel industrial light shade. Great mid size.
I really like this card box. It has a Renaissance theme which appeals to me. I can imagine in my Arts student, Uni days, wanting this.
Even the interior is lovely.

Silky Oak stool with nice heart detail on the ends.

The stool is sitting on an unusual sort of preparation table that has a shelf underneath.

Cuckoo clock
Groovy orange step shelf, perfect to jazz up a kids room.
Lovely old jars with glass lids perfect for collections of shells, buttons or lollies.
And I am very brave...coming up below......
....lovely West German Floor Vases!! Three of the beauties. I know, why am I not keeping them ? Well you know I have so many (sigh) and my mother taught me it was rude not to share. I love the caramel colour of the middle one...I love it so much I could just lick it. ( Don't worry potential buyers, I haven't actually licked it. ) Hope you are all having a good week. The weather is starting to cool down here in Brissie and the days are just glorious.

BIG is Beautiful...

When it comes to West German floor vases, I say, one can NEVER have too many. ( My family disagrees unfortunately  ) Now I also say, they can NEVER be too big.
I purchased my latest vase, on the right, from a garage sale on the weekend. It was dark when I arrived and the sale was open. The house had one of those super long, driveways and the carport was well lit. There seemed to be heaps of people already in the sale...BUGGER, I thought. AND THEN I SAW IT...in the distance, small at first, and then it got bigger and Bigger and BIGGER. I was willing no one to touch it.. STAY AWAY FROM MY PRECIOUS...... I stretched out my arm as far as I could and mustering all my arms strength I reached across a large table to another table....and it was mine...........YEY!
Actually I need not have been so worried. The people in the garage sale were all the family, there was just a whole heap of them and I was the first customer of the day. I'm sure a few of the family thought I was a crazy woman, running down their driveway in the dark and clutching a vase to my chest. Don't you love the green inside ?

Next to good size floor vases he really does look a giant.

I hope you are all having a good start to the week. I have a goal to clear my dining room table of treasures  for Good Friday lunch... After today my family think it can't be done as the treasures are now all over the floor aswell....fingers crossed.
